Key issues

Formwork: 3mm/5mm/8mm flexible ply (3 x 8 foot or 8 x 3 foot depending on the way you bend) available from Lavers on Chesterfield road. If we want it by tomorrow we’d have to drive to their other Sheffield branch to collect it.
Dimensions: see diagram. The straw bales are 360mm high. The rammed earth blocks should thus be 9mm high (4 x 9 = 36mm). The straw bales are 90mm in length. The total height would be 360 x 3 = 1080mm...(?)
Composition: The group favoured 32 rammed earth blocks over my idea for a completely circular formwork (of 180 diameter). So that’s 4 layers of 8 rammed earth sectors, pinned on top of eachother. This will facilitate transportation.
Tomorrow’s tutorials will help us decide whether the internal structure will be entirely straw-bales (there are question marks over structural stability and safety with this approach).
Earth collection: More earth will hopefully be on its way tomorrow, courtesy of John Beattie.
Publicity: I have organised a recording slot with Forge Media, the University Radio, for 4:30pm on Monday.

Tomorrow: Kalani and I will be at the bandstand at 10:30pm, Leslie in the computer room at 10:15pm. The rest should move operations to the shop on the Moor...
